The pretty town of Amble sits on the Northumberland coast at the mouth of the River Coquet on a penninsular giving spectacular views of the surrounding coastline. It's a popular place for cottage holidays because of it's pleasant harbour, marina and beautiful beaches. Just 2km off the shore is Coquet Island which has been designated a site of special scientific interest. It's home to some 35,000 nesting birds and a seal colony over 600 strong. Boat trips are available from the harbour.
In Amble, there are several cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from which is ideal when staying in a self catering cottage. Close by are Alnwick and Bamburgh with their medieval castles and the Northumberland National Park is on your doorstep.
