By plane

Avignon has its own local airport 8kms from the city centre and does take some international flights from around Europe such as London City Airport. See www.avignon.aeroport.fr for a list of all carriers that service the airport.

The main international airport closest to Avignon is Marseille which is serviced by many European carriers. From the airport, you can either hire a car or catch the train direct to the city centre.

By train

Avignon has its own station with trains linking to all major cities thanks to the TVG rail network.

• 2 hours 40 minutes from Paris
• 3 hours from Roissy Charles de Gaulle
• 1 hour from Lyon, and
• 30 minutes from Marseille

If travelling from London, you can take the take the direct London-Avignon-Marseille service or the Eurostar to either Lille or Paris and then change trains to Avignon.
