Costa Brava holiday cottages Holiday rentals- cottages to rent on the Costa Brava

Costa Brava – known as the wild coast, is the rugged stretch of coastline in Catalunya that starts an hours drive north-east of Barcelona and continues up to the French border where the Pyrenees mountains track down to the beach.

It has some of the best beaches and coves in Spain - just avoid the hot spots that were developed in the 1960s in the south of the region that still attract the masses. Instead, head north where you will discover a different world, full of Catalan tradition, rich in culture, history and natural beauty.

With the Natural Park of Cap de Creus , the Natural Park of the marshes of the Empordà and the Natural Park of Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter, the region is blessed with an abundance of interesting places to visit and then you have the wonderful coastal resorts and medieval villages such as Púbol and Pals to explore.

Featured holiday cottages on the Costa Brava

There are several main holiday resorts and inland villages on the Costa Brava with each one offering a good stock of private holiday rentals. Self catering holiday cottages and apartments are very popuar with families and are certainly great value. Holiday homes that are closest to the beaches or have access to a private or shared swimming pool and are within walking distance to the evening entertainment tend to get booked very early in the season.

Featured Resorts

A coastal town not to miss is Cadaques reached by a long twisting road and probably the most inaccessible resort in Spain. The main attraction is the Perrott-Moore museum featuring the work of the late artist Salvador Dal. The town itself gets overrun with tourists in the summer, a bit like Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol, and is full of expensive boutiques, bars and restaurants. If you can handle the drive to get there, its definitely worth a visit.

Our view on holidays in the Costa Brava

The Costa Brava has always been a very popular tourist destination and these days, even more accessible with low cost airfares and value for money holiday rentals. Arguably, one of the most beautiful and dramatic coastlines in Spain with fantastic beaches. A superb destination for family holidays with short transfers, great food, wine and plenty of sunshine.
